You don’t have to know much about Savannah to have heard the rumors that it’s one of the most haunted places in America. It earns its slot fairly. The 13th colony is rich in history, mystery, and death.

From the Siege of Savannah in 1779 that killed 240 people and injured nearly 600 more to Savannah’s capture by General Sherman in the Civil War, blood and turmoil have left an unsettling, uneasy environment full of spiritual activity.

Soldiers aren’t the only spirits roaming the grand halls of the magnificent residences in downtown Savannah, various epidemics also plagued the city. With wave after wave of sickness, it’s no wonder that many homes are inhabited by more than just the living.

Through the years, Savannah was confronted with a massive fire in 1820 that damaged over 500 structures, was victim to numerous murders, and suffered the horrors of slavery. With all the trauma, Savannah is a location scarred by its past. And it has the haunted houses to prove it.
